Is the practitioner qualified to treat my animal?

​

Yes! Jonelle has completed the MSc in Animal Manipulation from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic. This is currently the only validated course in Europe in teaching techniques for adjusting animals. This enables Jonelle to treat animals using the McTimoney therapy technique. Jonelle is also fully insured and a member of the McTimoney Animal Association which is the professional association for McTimoney Animal Practitioners.

Do I need a referral from my vet?

​

You must have veterinary approval for the treatment of your animal, your vet is usually happy to give approval over the phone and Jonelle is happy to speak to your vet on your behalf if you would like. Veterinary permission is required in order to comply with the Veterinary Surgeons Act (1966), it is illegal for anyone to treat your animal using any form of physical therapy without the approval of a veterinary surgeon.

Is my animal too small or old for McTimoney treatment?

​

No, McTimoney treatment uses very fast adjustments which makes the treatment extremely gentle. The treatment is also adjusted according to the individual animal so suitable for all animals from shire horses down to Chihuahuas.

Is the treatment safe?

​

Yes, McTimoney treatment is very safe. Before treating your animal Jonelle will take a full history about your animal to ensure there is no reason why your animal should not receive the treatment. If Jonelle suspects that there may be a problem not suitable for McTimoney treatment she will refer you to your vet for investigation before carrying out the treatment.

Will my pet insurance cover McTimoney treatment?

​

The majority of insurance companies do cover McTimoney treatment for your animal. However, if you're not sure it is best to phone up your insurance company to check they will cover the treatment.

Will my animal like the treatment?

​

The treatment is on the whole very well accepted by the majority of animals. Many animals thoroughly enjoy the treatment and are extremely relaxed throughout and following treatment.

Does my animal need to be anaesthetised to have McTimoney treatment?

​

No! The treatment requires no anaesthetic or drugs. Jonelle will use only her hands to make adjustments to the animals musculoskeletal system.
